Charlaine Harris “Harper Connelly Mysteries” to Hit Syfy Tv.

True Blood author Charlaine Harris might end up with another hit supernatural drama series on the air.
Syfy has picked up the rights to her Harper Connelly Mysteries for a new series project in development titled Grave Sight.
Harris’ four-book series, launched in 2005, follows a young woman who was struck by lightning as a teenager. Now in her 20s, she senses the location and last memories of dead people.
In the Syfy adaptation, Connelly teams up with her protective stepbrother, Tolliver Lang, to help find a missing teenage girl, only to uncover a network of lies and murders throughout a small town in the Ozarks.
Kam Miller (Law and Order: SVU) is writing the pilot.

Sneak Peak inside Deadlocked…

Chapter One
It was hot as the six shades of Hell even this late in the evening, and I’d had a busy day at work. The last thing I wanted to do was to sit in a crowded bar to watch my cousin get naked. But it was Ladies Only night at Hooligans, we’d planned this excursion for days, and the bar was full of hooting and hollering women determined to have a good time.
My very pregnant friend Tara sat to my right, and Holly, who worked at Sam Merlotte’s bar like me and Kennedy Keyes, sat on my left. Kennedy and Michele, my brother’s girlfriend, sat on the other side of the table…..

The Beginning and End of Sookie Stackhouse

How far into the thirteenth Stackhouse novel are you?
Zero! [Laughs.] That’s my next project. When I get home I have to go over the copy-edited pages of Sookie 12, which will be out in May. That will freshen up my memory about what I need to do in Sookie 13, to tie everything together. A seemingly impossible task.
I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, but could you talk about what the twelfth novel will involve?
It’s called Deadlocked. It’s another extension of her adventures, moving a step forward to resolve many of the issues that are brought up in previous books. She gets kidnapped – you know, the usual mayhem. She gets kidnapped, she has to get out of it. The Fey entry into her life is pretty much wrapped up. She learns a lot more about everything really. She learns a lot in this book, the truth. So it was a challenging book to write, and I tried to keep it on track more as a mystery. But there are just so many loose ends to tie up, it’s just incredible. [Laughs.]
History of Horror on TV

True Blood (2008-ongoing, HBO): Arguably the most successful horror show on TV to date, Alan Ball’s adaptation of Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries was scary, sexed up, politically charged and plenty gory when it premiered. It was also polarizing — critics were sharply divided and only 1.4 million viewers checked out the first airing. But over subsequent episodes, viewers soon found their way into the campy, soap operatic shenanigans of Bon Temps’ backwoods, where Sookie and her undead paramours braved supernatural — and supremely salty — demons. Episode 9 of the recent fourth season drew a series-high 5.5 million viewers (not including those who DVR’d or watched later airings on the network).

Deadlocked out in May 2012

Q: Are you able to please tell us something about what projects are “in the works”, how far along are they, when may we expect them, and, while I don’t expect you to give away any plot spoilers, what are some of the things you are able to tell us about them?
CH: I’m working on the editorial changes for the next Sookie, DEADLOCKED, out next May. Next I’ll write two short stories, one for my next anthology and one for a Joe Lansdale anthology. Then I’m working on the graphic novel I’m working on with Chris Golden, CEMETERY GIRL. It will appear next year. After that, I’ll begin Sookie 13, the final installment.
Q: How much longer will the show continue and how do you feel about this past season?
CH: The show will continue with Alan Ball at the helm at least another season, and it’s possible it will go on after that with other management. I love the show; I know so many of the people involved and I think very highly of their talent and commitment.
there’s a lot and I mean a lot of good Q&A that Charlaine answers in her interview.
