Having Some Luck With the Ladies…or Maybe a Fairy
Question: How did you get involved with the show?
CHRIS BAUER: I had a cup a coffee with Alan Ball, which I so enjoyed. It was an hour and a half of a really great conversation. We talked about theater and writing and, for a few minutes, we talked about his script and critics. I thought, “This guy is so real,” which I always respond to because I like to see myself that way. In my experience, it tends to be a real reflection of someone’s intelligence, confidence and sensitivity when they can just be real. I felt very comfortable with him, and the actor in me always wants to link himself to a leader who’s inspired. At the end of that cup of coffee, he said he’d love for me to do the show and I told him that I would love to do it.
Question: Do you think Andy will ever have any better luck with the ladies, or are you glad you don’t have to worry about doing the nude scenes that so many of your castmates have to do?

If you’re a True Blood fan, i have to say that after shooting Chris Bauer, and realizing how different he is from his character on that show, i’ve decided that he is an amazing actor!

It’s funny you mention Viagra, because when Jason Stackhouse was addicted to V, he spent a lot more time in bed than Andy. Do you feel slighted?
[Laughs.] I consider myself a perfectly sexy guy, but in the vocabulary of popular television, it’s much more likely that guys like Ryan Kwanten and Joe Manganiello and Alex Skarsgård and Steve Moyer and Sam Trammell are gonna get those little chunks of story. But I gotta say, my impression of Alan Ball as a writer is that he’s a total humanist and by no means would he discern who can be sexy and who can’t. But, realistically, they’re gonna hang those scenes on those other guys, and so be it.
You came pretty close to getting your love story with Holly, but the V got in the way. Are you rooting for him to win her back?
Yes. I’m rooting for him to be able to integrate as an adult with other adults [laughs].

Don’t get your Panties in a Twist…True Blood is not going Anywhere
Evidently some people have got their panties in a twist over “True Blood” having a dip in viewers this last Sunday. Yes, this last Sunday, July 3rd, over a 3 day summer weekend that was gorgeous across most of the country, people decided to travel to BBQs, friends’ houses, and watch fireworks instead of vampires. Of course the numbers were going to drop for that particular viewing but HBO reruns the show about 40 times per week for people to catch it, and the numbers don’t reflect DVRs either. Get real,
“True Blood” has a worldwide cult following bordering on mania, it’s not going anywhere.
